Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square and New African Grove Theatre Company presents August Wilson’s Two Trains Running on October 13 – 15 and 20 – 22.
Set in the late 1960s in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, Two Trains Running revolves around Memphis Lee, the owner of a struggling restaurant that is threatened with demolition by the city as part of an urban redevelopment plan and Memphis’s fight to receive fair compensation for his property while grappling with the changing neighborhood and his own dreams. The play explores the lives of Memphis’s employees and regular customers as they search for work, love, and justice and their experiences with racial inequality, economic hardships, and the impact of societal shifts on the African American community.
