Leah and Michael have a long musical history with the seminal bluegrass band, the Dappled Grays. Using the downtime of the pandemic to write a new catalog of music, they launched Smith & Calvert. The final product is more Bonnie Raitt than Alison Krauss and more Mark Knophler than Bill Monroe, but still incorporates the bluegrass influences that have consistently defined their sound. They are currently in the studio, finishing their debut studio album and booking select dates with their 5-piece electric band.
