An Annular Eclipse will be viewable in the United States on Saturday, October 14. Annular eclipses are different from total eclipses in that a ring of the sun will still be visible around the moon at the eclipse’s peak. Smyrna area will experience 52% occlusion, so a little more than half the sun will be blocked at the peak at 1:12 p.m.
Bring blankets and snacks, and spread out on the new greenspace lawn to enjoy the celestial show. Smyrna Public Library will provide free eclipse glasses to the first 250 attendees. Enjoy crafts and science experiments provided by Smyrna Public Library. Learn more about eclipses before the big day by attending a presentation about eclipses on Sunday, October 1, at 3 p.m. at Smyrna Library.
