Enjoy light refreshments at the closing reception of Ellen DeLoach’s exhibition, Nesting: Loss, Triumph, + Redemption at the Avery Gallery in Marietta on Friday, May 19 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Nesting is the second posthumous exhibition of paintings by local and nationally exhibited artist, Ellen DeLoach (1955-2015). Completed passionately over the course of a short number of years, Ellen’s artwork served as a method for her to heal and process past traumas. Because of this energetic infusion, her art illuminates the universal human experience of adversity and triumph. Ellen’s intent was that viewers would initially be drawn in by the physicality of the work, but then linger over the emotional content; the search for truth that was at the heart of each piece.
The exhibition will feature large and small-scale mixed media works not shown in the artist’s lifetime. Nesting, Ellen’s most recent series, will be featured in the main gallery. Additional abstracts, landscapes and figurative works will also be on view. Each of the interconnected series are indicative of her unified vision as a woman healing through creation. The exhibit will run through May 30, 2023.
