Born in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, Berdysheff’s artistic career officially started in Scotland. Here he took part in a post-graduate exchange program at the Glasgow School of Art. After several solo and group exhibitions in Scotland, the Edinburgh School of Art hosted his major show during the Edinburgh International Festival in 1997. In 2000 he received the John Murray Thomson Award for his work in the Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition. Since then, he participated in numerous shows worldwide. As for the United States, his work has been exhibited in Florida, Arizona, Georgia and New York.

In his painting, Berdysheff combines figurative, but often distorted objects with pure forms and textural components. They coexist beyond any physical or logical limits, revealing an invisible tension and eternal struggle between all forms of matter. This all works to allow doubt to develop in regards to the reality of the visible.
