Want to see what 50 tireless campers from 11 schools (and a few exhausted teachers) can pull off in eight and a half days? You read that right: these three exciting performances of Newsies are the culmination of an intense summer musical theater program. Staged from top to bottom in just under two weeks, with an absolutely unbelievable amount of dedication from all involved, they are a must-see. Whether you know a camper in the cast or just love musical theater, come out and enjoy this high-energy Broadway-style extravaganza.
About the show: New York, 1899. Jack Kelly and his ragtag band of newspaper-hocking street urchins rise up against the exploitation of wealthy tycoon Joseph Pulitzer when he raises the price of his newspaper bundles. Watch as newsies from across the city band together, seize the day, and stand up for what’s right. This story is based on real historical events.
