A beloved Marietta tradition, the annua Root House Plant Sale returns on April 29! This unique sale offers shoppers a wide selection of vintage and native Georgia plants.
This year, in addition to plants, the Root House gift shop will also have a variety of seeds and gardening books available for purchase, as well as small batch botanical products, including lotions, soaps, bath teas, and bath soaks. All plants are sold first-come, first-served, so arrive right at 9 a.m. for the best selections.
The Root House was certified by the Georgia Department of Agriculture as an official “Georgia Grown” Agritourism Site in 2021. The gardens at the William Root House have been reconstructed to reflect the gardening practices of the mid-19th century, and all of the vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, decorative flowers, and blooming shrubs found in the garden today were researched for availability in Georgia during the 1860s. Many of the plants selected for the Plant Sale can be found growing in the Root House gardens today.
